How are students selected for the program?
School and district personnel will determine the number of spaces that will be available for students enrolled at each school, including those applying for special permits from other schools. These numbers vary by school based on enrollment and program needs to maintain the traditional and dual immersion programs. After the application process closes, a lottery system is used to assign students to programs.
Priority Considerations:
- Siblings: Students with siblings already enrolled in a dual immersion program may receive priority in the lottery. However, an application for the student must be submitted on time, and it does not guarantee placement.
- Timeliness: Applications must be submitted on time to be considered for priority.
- Choices: Only first-choice selections are entered into the lottery. Remaining spaces are filled based on second and third choices from on-time applications.
Additional Considerations:
- Waitlist: If spaces remain after the lottery, they are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Availability: Check the List of Dual Immersion Schools page for current availability.
- Notifications: Selection or waitlist notifications are sent out by the specified deadline on the application page.
- Commitment: Selected students must return the Parent Commitment Form in the letter by the deadline or forfeit their place.
- Out-of-District Applicants: These applicants are considered only if there are spaces available.
