Math

Welcome to Math

Math instruction is more than just math facts and story problems. Math instruction encompasses the thinking and learning behind the math as well as the application of the math to real world scenarios.

What is taught?

Granite District uses the Utah Core Standards for Math to guide the content and skills that every student needs to be college and career ready.  While the content and depth varies from grade to grade, the math practices are the same across grade levels.

Math Practice 1: Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them.

Math Practice 2: Reason abstractly and quantitatively.

Math Practice 3: Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others.

Math Practice 4: Model with mathematics.

Math Practice 5: Use appropriate tools strategically.

Math Practice 6: Attend to precision.

Math Practice 7: Look for and make use of structure.
