We have a couple meetings this month I wanted to remind you of:
October 22: Prepping for Retirement Overview: Medicare, Social Security, Granite Retirement Incentives (4:30 – 6:30 at GEC in Aud. A)
October 28: Tier 2 @ Hunter High School (4:30 start time)
If you are considering an end of year retirement, please reach out to me! Those on a teacher’s salary schedule who qualify for the district retirement incentives must sign district retirement paperwork no later than February 1, 2027.

Retirement Meetings for the 2026-27 School Year
UPCOMING MEETINGS: All start times are 4:30 and meetings will be held in the High School Media Center.
These meetings are designed to provide you with general information regarding your pension and retirement eligibility timelines.

NOTE: If you’re not sure if you’re a Tier 1 or Tier 2 employee, please go to your Employee Paystubs/W2 tile in the Portal and go to one of your paystubs. Open it up and look on the left-hand side.

Granite Retirement Deadlines:
Please be aware of the retirement deadlines for your employee group and feel free to call to set up an appointment at least a couple of weeks in advance of the deadline:
- ESP: 10 working days prior to retirement date
- Middle Manager: 90 calendar days of notice
- Teacher: Mid-Year Retirement deadline is Oct. 1st and End of Year Retirement deadline is February 1st
- Administrator: End of Year Retirement deadline is December 1st
2026-2027 Retirement Deadline Dates:
- October 1: Teacher Deadline to submit Granite Retirement Paperwork for a Mid-Year Retirement
- October 22: Prepping for Retirement Overview: Medicare, Social Security, Granite Retirement Incentives (4:30 – 6:30 at GEC in Aud. A)
- December 15: Administrator Deadline to submit Granite Retirement Paperwork for an End of Year Retirement

Utah Retirement System (URS) Information
Regarding Outside Advisors:
Every so often URS hears of stories from members about meeting with a URS representative who sold them a product (annuity, insurance, death benefit, etc.). URS wants to get the word out that our Advisors do not contact members to schedule meetings about their retirement benefits and URS does not sell products. If you have employees that are looking to learn more about their URS retirement benefits, URS would love to meet with them. These sessions are scheduled online through the URS website.
